The New Haven Yacht Club is a co-operative of sailors and sailing-oriented folks. We are an informal group
dedicated to helping each other spend as much time on the water as possible.
The club has a wide range of sailors. We have members with an extraordinary amount of experience and
first-time sailors. We strive to provide a learning environment for those who wish to learn about all
aspects of sailing; from splicing your own mooring lines to racing tactics.
Members participate in the tasks of running the club - building and placing moorings, setting up the docks,
maintaining the yard, and deciding on club priorities.
We share tales of our adventures (and imagined adventures) at Sailabrations and picnics. All are encouraged to
embellish their exploits, snack on our food, and imbibe responsibly.
Our club cherishes individuality, and you will find characters such as:
- Nick, who can provide expertise, advice, contacts, and great perspective on almost any water-related topic.
- Wayne and Manning, who serve as our racing experts.
- Gladwyn, who can repair anything (on land or on the water).
- Dave, who can cook on a grill and entertain at the same time.
- Cindy, who can plan our cruises and still maintain friendships.
- Frank, who can sail and sketch our club boats.
- Rick, well ...
- and many more special people.
